Reading Time: 3 minutes.

From long ago and to this day, Romania has been important for its strategic geographic location. Therefore, castles and palaces have been built by Kings and nobles across the country. Above you can see Peleș Castle. Get a royal view with the free Windows 10 theme at the end of the article!

Mogoșoaia Palace Photos

The picture above shows Mogoșoaia Palace. Finished in 1702, by Constantin Brâncoveanu, and built in Brâncovenesc style. Likewise, it is actually comprised of two buildings: the one that you can see above and another one that you can see below. Therefore, if you would like to spend some time outside the city, this place is relatively close to Bucharest.

In the above picture we can see the second building of Mogoșoaia Palace.

Inside Cotroceni Palace Photo

This picture is from Controceni Palace, where the President of Romania has his headquarters. From the outside, the palace looks rather modest (except from the high-tech security cameras). However, inside, there is a very different view. The furniture is very exquisite and full of history. Thereby, if you are interested in paintings or arts, you should visit this palace from Bucharest.

Făgăraș Citadel Photo

Above we can see one of Romania’s citadels. For real! It is surrounded by water, so you can get there only be crossing a bridge. The place is pretty huge and full of medieval weaponry. Additionally, outside, there are actors who make you feel that you went back in time. I only saw something like this before at the Tower of London (see the photo here).

Bran Castle Photo

Above, there is a castle full of legends. It is Bran Castle. Above all, renowned for the tales of Vlad Țepeș, or Vlad the Impaler, or simply Dracula. Luckily I arrived after re-openeing.  So, inside there are many horror stories, myths and rituals.

The picture above is from inside Bran Castle. The views from the towers are absolutely amazing.

Râșnov Citadel Photo

Shot with Sony DSC-HX300. Adjusted in Lightroom.

In the above photo we can look at Râșnov Citadel. It is placed on a high hill to gain the terrain advantage. Also, the fortification is almost 1.000 years old. Therefore, if you visit Brașov, you must go here too.

This photo is from the top of Râșnov Citadel. Although very old, the stronghold has very thick walls. Likewise, over the walls, we can admire the pristine forests of Romania.

I could not get pass these two cats inside Râșnov Citadel without taking them a picture. So, it appears that there are many cats there. In conclusion, if you are a cat lover, this is the fortress to visit.
